Stories we hear as children often stay with us for life. Why? What makes them resonate? We first hear stories sitting on a lap. Then we tell tales, probing the fine line between truth and lie. It is not until much later that we write. So it makes sense for writers of children's stories to put down the pen, pick up a crayon, and look at writing through the eyes of a child. In this workshop with Penny Draper (Disaster Strikes! series), we will take our writing back to the beginning: hearing, telling and drawing our stories. Sense of place, structure, dialogue, rhythm and universality will be explored orally and visually, inspiring the writing that will be your homework.
